We are a Movement of the Church that helps to grow disciples
through Prayer, Study and Action
A (brief) History of Cursillo
Cursillo originally came about as a response to the divisions caused in the Catholic Church during and after the Spanish Civil War. In 1948, as an act of healing, a pilgrimage was organised to Santiago de Compostella in North West Spain and, in preparation for this, some 70,000 young men attended short courses (Cursillo = a course) in Christian living.
Following the pilgrimage a number of people recognised the power of the Cursillo, these short courses, and so the movement was born.
Initially Cursillo was confined to Spain but gradually it moved to other Catholic countries including Mexico and it was from there that Cursillo was gifted to the Anglican Diocese of Dallas, in the United States.
